Olaf Martin Standal was born in Addie Township, Griggs County, North Dakota on 26, July 1902.  He was the oldest child of seven born to Norwegian immigrants;  Samson Lyder Elias Olsen Standal and Randine Johnsdatter.  Olaf married Gladys Bergliot Severson on 16, December 1928 in Moorhead, Minnesota.  He worked for NP Railroad as a District Manager until his retirement in 1968.  Olaf died on 11, June 1972 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and is interred at the Oak Grove Cemetery in that town.
