Here is Sam's younger brother, Matt.  He, too, emigrated to North Dakota.  Born 18, February 1866 at Nedre Standalen near Flora, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, his baptismal name was Bertil Mathias Andreas Olsen Standal.  Matt, as he was known in America, emigrated from Bergen on 30, August 1892.  He came to Griggs County, North Dakota and began his career with the Railroad.  Matt married a Norwegian immigrant named Karen Knudsdtr Hovdelien 1904.  The couple had 8 children and lived their lives in Cooperstown, North Dakota.  Karen died in  1942 and Matt died in 1949.  Both are interred at Cooperstown Cemetery.
